The Amazon EC2 Management Console can be confusing. Unlike Gmail, it isn’t enough to repeatedly click on the “Instances” link to see if my instance finished launching. Instead, click the “Refresh” button in the top right hand corner.

Mako is my current choice of templating tools. One thing I really like about Mako is that it tries to have it’s syntax as close to Python as possible, and actually compiles the html template files down to Python.
